Year 2020 saw the world reach a frightening milestone! For the first time, the world used more than 100 billion tonnes of material resources! 3.7 times increase in just 40 years. In another 20 years, this number could reach between 170 and 184 billion tons result in an overuse of earth’s total capacity by more than 450%, a physically impossible feat.

Our current take-make-dispose model is linear with only 7.4 % is returning in the value chain again. We are fast approaching the ‘perfect storm’ situation where population growth, imminent scarcity of finite resources, climate change and pollution of our water, air and soil threaten to push the world over the tipping point. Transitioning to a circular economy is the only way we can combat this situation.

Irrespective of our background, every one of us can play an important role in making the world sustainable for our future generations. Let us discuss how.
