Jan. 2019 Annual Gathering

PMI UAE Chapter held their Annual Gathering at Queen Elizabeth 2 floating Hotel in Dubai’s Mina Rashid Port on January 19th, 2019. Over 400 members, sponsors, industry partners and volunteers attended this annual event geared towards bringing those who involved celebrating the success of the past year. PMI UAE Chapter members made most of their membership by meeting with their peers, making new contacts, developing their networking, and gaining knowledge at this event.

Chapter President, Ms. Laila Faridoon addressed the members and discussed the progress made in 2018 and how it was an extraordinary year for PMI UAE Chapter and would like to continue that momentum into 2019 with the help of members, sponsors and partners.
Ms. Faridoon highlighted that, in 2018, the Chapter organized quarterly events across major UAE cities and smaller targeted events on a regular basis in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Al-Ain. One of the most significant events was the “Voice of the Members”, which was held in November 2018 to actively involve members in shaping the PMI UAE strategy for 2019.
Ms. Faridoon unveiled the 2019-member benefits and made announcements of launching the PMI UAE Mobile App, Chapter Mentorship program, and the Knowledge Corner. She concluded her speech thanking members, volunteers, valued partners, and sponsors.

Dr. Noah Raford, COO, “Futurist-in-Chief” at the Dubai Future Foundation talked about managing change in the next 10 years and beyond (The transition Decades). He shared insights on the trends shaping our future and brought up an interesting point that during the last 50 to 100 years, we have seen exponential growth in all the sectors, and we are undergoing a scale of transformation as we have never seen before.

Mr. Kenneth Linn from PwC talked about the challenges the infrastructure sector is facing and why it's an under pressure to reform. With both the Government and the Construction industry working together, harnessing new methods of delivery and new emerging technologies will ensure productivity and transformation for years to come.

The Annual Gathering concluded with recognizing sponsors and partners. The awards were presented to volunteers for their contribution to PMI UAE Chapter service excellence. Networking Lunch followed afterwards.
