Description:

Construction projects are inherently complex, involving numerous stakeholders and a disorganized supply chain ecosystem. Even small projects can have hundreds of stakeholder groups, including various departments from clients and suppliers of both large and small items. This complexity is highlighted in studies by the Project Management Institute (PMI), which emphasize the need for enhanced management skills for professionals in the built environment. Effective communication plays a critical role in managing these complexities, and the PMI approach offers tools for addressing communication challenges. Topics such as communication strategy, stakeholder engagement, active listening, the Big Room (Obeya) approach, and Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) are explored, providing project managers with practical methods to enhance communication across all project levels.

In addition to communication, the skills needed for construction project managers to build a future-ready workforce are also vital. This workshop will delve into leadership, strategic thinking, and adaptability, addressing the evolving challenges in the construction industry. Emerging technologies, including AI, will be discussed, showcasing how these tools can optimize project management practices and prepare managers to meet future demands and successfully navigate the dynamic construction landscape.
